Evidence: Social scripts provide predictable frameworks for social interactions, improving communication and reducing anxiety (Cihak et al., 2012). The 4-step method (anticipate, structure, reinforce, generalize) is evidence-based for teaching social skills to individuals with intellectual disabilities (Wehmeyer, 2007). Video modeling and script-based interventions show strong effects across settings (Bellini & Akullian, 2007).
