Red Municipal de Bibliotecas de Vitoria-Gasteiz

    Vitoria-Gasteiz · Araba (Alava)

People with reading difficulties, from age 16: an easy-read book club and a collection of easy-read books

    • Publishes ages, days and town
    See more · 5 activities
    • Easy-read book club: every Thursday 18:00 to 19:00, 1 October to 17 December 2026, at the El Pilar community centre, in Spanish
    • From age 16; eight places, and at least six needed for it to run
    • €3 on starting on 1 October, or €1.80 with a season card; it runs for the year, with re-enrolment and payment each term
    • The places were drawn by lot in September; if any is still free, you can ask for it until 17 December
    • Easy-read books across the whole library network, following the IFLA guidelines: adventure, crime, historical, realist, fantasy and romantic novels, and folk tales. Search the catalogue for «Lectura Fácil»

What it lacks: Today there are no free places left in the club: all 8 were allocated in the draw. And there is no easy-read club for under-16s: the family reading club in Basque, for children aged 8 and 9, says nothing about adaptations.

    • Ages, days and town: yes, but not on the organisation’s website

    See more · 13 activities
    • Adapted sports schools, 2026-27: October to June, outside school hours, within the Bizkaia provincial council’s school sport programme. Ages are a guide
    • Swimming from age 6: Barakaldo (Lasesarre sports centre, Saturdays 12:15 to 14:10), Durango (Landako 2, Tuesdays 17:20 to 19:20), Leioa (Sakoneta: Wednesdays 18:00 to 19:30, Fridays 15:50 to 16:30 and Saturdays 9:35 to 11:00), Santurtzi (Mikel Trueba, Saturdays 10:00 to 11:15), Sestao (Benedicta, Fridays 16:45 to 18:15), Arrigorriaga (Fridays 16:45 to 17:30) and Muskiz (San Juan, Wednesdays 16:45 to 17:30 and Fridays 15:45 to 16:30)

    • Holiday camps at Easter, in summer and at Christmas, mornings, ages 8 to 30, mainly in Getxo, Barakaldo, Bilbao, Durango and Leioa
    • You need to be a Haszten member, except at the council-run schools (Arrigorriaga, Durango, Muskiz, Leioa and Sestao), which set their own fees and give priority to local residents. Swimming in Getxo, Güeñes and Galdakao is booked through those councils

What it lacks: It does not publish this year's prices. Each person's session is decided after registration, depending on their independence, and some venues are still to be confirmed. According to the registration page, wheelchair hockey, skate and fitness in Bilbao have been suspended this year, although they appear in the brochure. The camps page links to programmes from 2024.

    • Free loan of wheelchairs and folding seat-sticks
    • A visit to the Athletic Club barge: Saturdays 17:00 to 18:00, free with admission and no booking; it runs if at least four people come

What it lacks: The children’s workshops are «children, without adults»: a child who needs someone beside them is left out, so ask whether their companion can stay. And the visit made with Gorabide is not specific to autism.

    • Publishes ages, days and town
    See more · 6 activities
    • Adapted school sport (EKE): ages 6 to 20 (to 21 in specialist units), two weekdays a week in hour-long sessions, on land and in water; in Andoain, Astigarraga, Beasain, Donostia, Elgoibar, Hernani, Hondarribia, Irun, Ordizia, Urnieta, Tolosa and Zumarraga
    • 2026-2027 school year: the registration period has closed (this programme's page still links the 2025-2026 documents today)
    • Open activities on some weekends: adapted football meets, walks for everyone, and inclusive surf days
    • Sports schools at the federation’s clubs, 2026-27 season: from age 14
    • Open summer camps (UDA): sport and cultural activities, mostly outdoors, in several municipalities; the 2026 ones have already taken place
    • A guide to more inclusive school-age sport (2022), for clubs and councils

What it lacks: It does not say which exact days or how much each group costs, nor the dates of the summer camps: that comes when the federation replies to the application. The deadline for 2026-2027 has passed; if you are late, ask. And the assisted bathing service on Hondarribia beach («Baño sin barreras») has not run since 2020.
